Watercolor Painting – Series of 4 Classes

Returning students are welcome. We always provide new projects and art techniques for those who are returning.

In this relaxed 4-week class we welcome beginners, and those wishing to revisit the fundamentals, to explore the exciting world of watercolors with us. We will review supplies and processes as needed, guiding you to practice skills and create your own watercolor painting.

Painting with watercolors is a unique type of painting that can produce fresh and vibrant results utilizing the natural element of water. Learn basic basic brush control, color theory, value study and more while creating your own works of art and developing your techniques. For our final class, we pull together all that you’ve learned and apply those skills in a painting of your choosing.


Basic Starter Kit – $65

You may purchase the kit with your ticket (select “Watercolor Painting with Basic Starter Kit”) -or- purchase on the first day of class.

  • 3-brush set – Sizes 12, 6, and 1 round brush
  • Simple 8-color watercolor set
  • Drawing pencil
  • 12 x 16 block of Watercolor Paper (15 sheets)

Recommended Materials List if purchasing on your own:

  • 3-brush set – We recommend: Robert Simmons White Sable or Princeton
    • Sizes 12, 6, and 1 round brush
  • Paints – We recommended: M Graham Watercolor
    • Ultramarine Blue, Phthalo Cyan Blue, Azo Yellow, Cadmium Yellow, Sap Green, Cadmium Red, Alizarin Orange, Alizarin Crimson, Quinacridone Rose, Mineral Violet…. or colors of your choosing.
  • Watercolor palette
  • Watercolor paper pad
    • We recommend: Strathmore 12” x 15” 140lb
    • Or higher quality: Arches cold press 300lb
  • Board – laminate or wood, to tape your painting to (optional)
  • Canvas bag to hold supplies
  • Sakura Pigma Micron Pens assorted sizes (optional)
  • Masking Fluid and Gum eraser (optional)
  • Note: We recommend purchasing supplies at your local art supplier, but here are some affordable online resources: Dick Blick, Utrecht, and Jerrys Artarama

Studio will have the following available to share:

  • Paper towels or rag
  • Plastic container for water
  • Drafters tape (low-tack masking tape)
  • Drawing pencil 2H
  • Kneading eraser
  • Masking fluid and gum eraser
